Nella sezione tv, i grandi vincitori sono The Crown come miglior serie drammatica (ottiene anche il premio per la migliore attrice in una serie drammatica, Claire Foy), Atlanta come miglior comedy (ottiene anche il premio per il migliore attore in una serie comedy, Donald Glover) e The People v. O.J.: American Crime Story come miglior miniserie (ottiene anche il premio come migliore attrice in una miniserie o film tv, Sarah Paulson).
È però The Night Manager a vincere il maggior numero di premi (tre, tutti e tre di recitazione), mentre People v. O.J. Simpson, The Crown e Atlanta ottengono due premi. Ai canali via cavo “basic” come FX (4 premi) e AMC (3 premi) si affianca quindi Netflix, che ottiene due riconoscimenti. Amazon Studios e ABC (unico network broadcast nella rosa dei premiati) portano a casa un Globe a testa. Rimane totalmente a bocca asciutta la HBO, una novità per la tv via cavo premium che solitamente trionfa in buona parte delle cerimonie di premiazione (e che arrivava ai Globes con 14 nomination complessive, il numero più alto).
A trionfare realmente sono le produzioni inglesi: The Crown e The Night Manager portano infatti a casa cinque premi complessivamente. Tra i premi più inaspettati senza dubbio quello a Billy Bob Thornton per Goliath, serie di Amazon che non ha ottenuto il rinnovo per una seconda stagione.
